Sha Jing is located at ShenZhen Bao’an District, which is also known for “Paradise of Oyster.” It is distinguished by more than longevity, resiliency, and culture. Because of the rising of industrial development, it has been labeled as of “urban fringe” or “environmental pollution.” Urban villages are scattered along rivers, old industrial districts and other low utility landscape, even for the surrounding scenery is unvaried and mechanical. Public resources and living facilities, however, are relatively insufficient located at the northwest gateway of the city with naturally curved river. This landscape, gloomily, is not optimistic as it should be.
As of now, the ShaJing area has become an important science and technology innovation corridor between GuangZhou and ShenZhen. With the speedily transmission from Hong Kong and ShenZhen, the infrastructure is gradually improved. Simultaneously, it comes along with an advantage of this river city, for now people can reach the airport within just 30 minutes by the metro line 11.
Recently, Hope Design has won the bid for the competition of ShenZhen ShaJing Bluepath by teaming up with MLA+ and China Power Construction. This will not only integrate the industrial upgrading and renovate the old industrial area, but also improve the whole environmental quality and adopt the concept of “Co-governance of Aquatic City,” linking up the future development of this region.

In this competition, we specially proposed the idea of linking up the sandbar and the rejuvenation of JingTian. Three strategies have been formulated for Bluepath on Shajing River:
- Straight paths crisscrossed in JingTian while giving tenacity and boldness to the land
- Build up the sandbar with multi-dimensional waterscape
- Highlight Shajing by optimize fascinating water garden

Rejuvenate JingTian by Strengthen Paths Crisscrossed in Fields
We have redefined the hundreds pedestrian street with public-private collocation strategy: to put streets as a backbone and create hundred steps neighborhood within hailing distance presenting by modern planning and designing language, in order to drive the whole streets vitality, implant public streets into activated community construction, build up a new framework for development to enhance the local culture and leisurely life.
Hightlight The Waterfall City by Carrying Sandbar On
The Shajing River area plays an important role in regional ecological hub. With its multi-river tributaries and a good ecological base, we take advantage to build up and optimize a waterfall city. Our goal is to create a city that integrates water and land, with five theme park courses and smart management systems providing acutely roads and water information so people can be served better now by big data.
Based on different types of coastal city and imagination of the future seaboard scenery, we have divided the entire shoreline into 5 sections:
- Waterfall Fashion Exhibition Area
- Landscape Technology Experiencing Island
- Post-Industrial Landscape and New Industrial Park
- Farmland Factory Park
- Water Culture & Ecological Factory Park
The Fascinating Water Paradise: The Punchline of Sha Jing
In the near space vision of the intercity track between Beijing, Hong Kong & Macao and Guangzhou, Dongguan & Shenzhen, we have created four gates to welcome visitors. At the same time, it also brought an eye-catching punch-in spot to ShaJing River and became a hot topic throughout the network.
In the metro backyard area, we restore the green land on the surface of the entire island, reshape the landscape construction, and create a one-stop shopping center, making this a fresh fashion destination for young people.
At the Songgang River entrance, the first ring bridge connects with the two rivers and three banks, the second ring links the oil tank garden, and the third ring links the upgraded industrial comprehensive offices and laboratory buildings, connecting all to the art gallery.
At the same time, we intend to upgrade the BaTian fertilizer plant, reshape the wetland revetment of the rice fields and other wetlands on the south bank, and compound ecological agricultural landscapes and industrial landscapes. On both banks of a river, cruise ships will be emptied between LingNan reservoirs making this able to see our industrial remains.
Positively, the water source landscape of the sluice revolves around the hydrological facilities. The landscape originates from the south bank and extends on the ground according to the well-shaped water path. The slow bridge across the three banks leads to a cultural display water path of MaoZhou River, and finally flows to the Link Water Theater.
Toughless System
The water quality improvement project is mainly composed of three parts: 1. important nodes of water quality assurance engineering, 2. ecological shoreline construction, 3. micro-habitat construction.
With green river and spring water, it is granted a glimpse of the two rivers. Shenzhen has now fully launched the engineering project of Bi Road. May Shajing take advantage of this new breeze, take advantage of the trend, and usher in revival!
